Receita de Samba @ Ryles Jazz Club
Although on any given night the group may be
comprised of a different line-up of musicians,
it almost always includes husband and wife
duo
Ana Borges and Bill Ward.

Either as a duo or accompanied by the finest
musicians in Boston, Receita de Samba
specializes in traditional Sambas, known as
"Samba de Raíz" or "Samba de Roda", as
well as other folkloric Brazilian styles like
Forró, Ijexá, Baião, and Xote.

Depending on the format of the group the
sound can range soft and intimate to loud
and energetic, yet always with an emphasis
on subtlety and quality - there is always a good balance between the voices, and the percussion and
string instruments, making it a performance well worth seeing whether you are there to dance or to
just sit and listen.
